  35. .SH NAME
  36. .P
  37. sam_rehister \- Register component for health checking
  38. .SH SYNOPSIS
  39. .P
  40. \fB#include <corosync/sam.h>\fR
  41. .P
  42. \fBcs_error_t sam_register (unsigned int *\fIinstance_id\fR);\fR
  43. .SH DESCRIPTION
  44. .P
  45. The \fBsam_register\fR function is used to register a process for healthchecking.
  46. If recovery policy is set to \fISAM_RECOVERY_POLICY_RESTART\fR and recovery
  47. action will be taken, the new process instance will begin execution at the next
  48. code line after this function is called.
  49. .P
  50. This function can be called only once and SAM must be initialized by
  51. \fBsam_initialize(3)\fR function.
  52. .P
  53. The \fIinstance_id\fR argument is a pointer to a value storing the current
  54. iteration instance. If this parameter is NULL, no \fIinstance_id\fR is returned.
  55. and then, no \fIinstance_id\fR will be returned. This value starts at 0 for the
  56. first iteration instance, and increases by 1 each time a recovery restart is
  57. executed. After reaching MAX_INT, the instance_id will reset to 0.
  58. .P
  59. The placement of this function is important because after it is called, the
  60. process id will change.
  61. .P
  62. After registration, event driven health checking is not running.
  63. .SH RETURN VALUE
  64. .P
  65. This call return CS_OK value if successful, otherwise and error is returned.
  66. .SH ERRORS
  67. .TP
  68. CS_ERR_BAD_HANDLE
  69. health checking was not started by calling \fBsam_start(3)\fR function.
  70. .TP
  71. CS_ERR_LIBRARY
  72. internal library call failed. This can be one of pipe creation or fork.
  73. It's possible to get more information from errno.
